I don’t know about you, but I am longing for the day when all things will be made new. When there will be no more pain, suffering, death or crying. Revelations 21:4 “And he will wipe every tear from their eyes;and there will no longer be any death, there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” I look to the day, when evil, anger, hatred, bigotry, murder, abortion, rape, abuse, and deceit are no more. 2 Peter 3:13 “But according to His promise, we are looking for a new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” Isaiah 65:17 “For behold, I create a new heaven and a new earth, and the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.” Oh, to be able to live a life where doing the right, godly things are not considered wrong, or even illegal. 2 Timothy 3:12 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Matthew 5:11″Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”
Be assured my friends, without a doubt, that day is coming! I believe we should be looking for that day; the day that we dwell with God eternally. Whether Jesus comes back today, tomorrow, next week, next month, 100 years from now, or 1000 years from now, if we would truly grasp the HOPE we have to come, we would live our lives, right now, so differently. Why are we waiting for that day until we rest and abide in Christ? Even in a world full of diseases, famine, super viruses, economic instability, distrust, divisiveness, wars, and civil unrest, we can abide and rest in Christ. Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Isaiah 12:2 “Surely God is my Salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord Himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.” Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
Jesus brought God’s presence, through His life, death, and resurrection, to earth. He tore the veil of seperation in two. Matthew 27:50 & 51″ Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;” Because of Jesus and the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are never alone. 1 John 3:24 “And He that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in them. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us.”
But, to be able to remain and rest in Him, we have to walk with Him. Colossians 2:6 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him. Ephesians 5:8 “For ye were sometimes in darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.” If we want His peace and His rest, we must spend time with Him. We need to spend time in His Word and in prayer. 1 Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. Psalm 141:2 “May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands, be like the evening sacrifice.” Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
The more time we spend with God, and the more we know about God, the more will will trust Him. The more we trust Him, the more we can rest in Him. Then and only then, will we be able to find rest in a world of unrest, and peace in a time of fear and disunity. We will have hope! Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Let’s start living like we have hope. Then and only then, will we be able to completely rest in Him.
